Though there is hardly a way to quantify the “weirdness” of a state, the fact that the oddities of the Florida news have inspired multiple books, at least one daily blog and the only state-related tag on Fark — a site dedicated to absurd news — seems to support Curtis’ claim.

Roberto Pombrol, 45, of Vero Beach didn’t heed that bit of accepted wisdom when he crashed his company truck through a privacy fence and into a swimming pool. When police arrived, the soaking-wet Pombrol said he wanted to file a stolen vehicle report and had chased the truck on foot to the scene of the crash.

However, he recanted when two witnesses said Pombrol was the only person near the vehicle after the crash and one motorist said the vehicle was going about 75 mph just before the crash, TCPalm reports.

So Pombrol was charged with filing a false police report in addition to careless driving.

This is just wrong on so many different levels. How dare you promote an “explore adoption day” knowing full well that an entire community is legally excluded from participating, Governer Crist? It’s beyond insulting and I think Florida needs to change this law of theirs banning LGBT couples from adopting children. I mean really, they would probably make ten times better parents than some of the straight couples allowed to adopt children.

If you’re like me and you live maybe 5minutes away from Raymond James Stadium, you are practically pissing your pants with joy right now not because the Steelers won, but now all this obscene traffic we have been dealing with for the past week is finally OVER. Dale Mabry is finally open and free again to strip clubs and not as many crawling cars gazing at the stadium.

The trouble started when a $1,772.50 deposit to the Pratts’ FNB Bank account showed up as $177,250 last summer. Police say that instead of telling the bank, they withdrew the money, quit their jobs and moved to Florida.
